We’ve compiled the results from the Vancouver, WA, Collector’s West Gun & Knife Show, where we had a booth offering non-lead ammo in exchange for lead ammo. The vast majority of show participants were eager to hear more about the health risks to wildlife from lead ammunition and appreciated the non-lead alternative we had to offer. Here are some of the results-The first question asked each participant to write down their top 6 cartridges they most often fire. As was expected, .22LR was the most popular at 75%, or 3 of every 4 people. Surprising to me was the popularity of .45 acp, at just over 50%, or half of those surveyed.
The second question asked each participant to indicate their top 2 locations for purchasing ammunition. After tallying the data for this chart, I began to wonder if the survey would still report the same conclusion in a years time? Cabela’s did just open another store in Tualatin. Nevertheless, Sportsman’s Warehouse came out on top with over 1/3 of all surveys listing them as their ammo purchase location.
It’s important to remember that this is a single survey taken in a location that may have different access to stores as another location. In the grand scheme of things, we plan to conduct additional non-lead ammo exchanges in other cities, where we can add in the additional survey data.
