Yao Man, contrary to what the name says, is a female giant panda. She was born on Sept. 27th, 2009 at Bifengxia, to Lu Lu and Guo Guo. She currently resides at the breeding center in Bifengxia, where she looks after her two cubs- 1 female and 1 male. They were born on Aug. 18th, 2015 and weighed in at 133.5 and 118 grams, respectively. PDXWildlife has a particular fondness with Yao Man because she is the subject of two of our research projects on maternal care and stereotypic behavior. In general, she is a quiet bear that loves to eat, sleep, and care for her little ones. Let us know if you enjoyed the short video and photos- Thanks for visiting.

Thanks, Nathan!
Thank you so much for this update on Yao Man and her cubs, as well as the wonderful video! I had the privilege of helping to take care of Yao Man in October 2011 when she was just over 2 years old. She was a quiet panda then, always had a thoughtful and peaceful look on her beautiful face. So happy that she has two healthy cubs and is taking care of them in a wonderful way! Thank you again, for the opportunity to see Yao Man and her beautiful cubbies!
Hi Jeanette. That’s so great that you were able to work with Yao Man early on. She is probably the most quiet bear at the breeding center, but I would always check in on her to see what she was up to. First time mom, but doing well. Thanks for the comment and let us know if you head back to see her in the future.
Hi DanielHi and thank you.
Do they know who is the father of twins Bing Bing and Qing Qing?
