Hi everyone! So if you have been following Celina’s blog, you know that we have all suffered cravings for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. This weekend we went to Chengdu to explore a bit (we were basically on a mission to find Cheetos!). First, we went to a McDonald’s for some french fries and soft-served ice cream cones. After we were satisfied with this American meal, we went to our next destination – Walmart.
Yep, you read that right. There are Walmarts in Chengdu. At Walmart, we found Cheetos and we bought 12 bags! It wasn’t until we reached our hotel that evening that we realized the Cheetos weren’t the ones we wanted. Although the packaging looked the same, the label read Spicy, not Flamin’ Hot. We assumed it was the same but that was not the case. We were wrong and utterly disappointed.
While in Chengdu we visited the Wenshu Yuan Monastery. It is a beautiful Buddhist temple that dates back to the Tang Dynasty.
We also ventured to Kuanzhai Ancient Street, wide and narrow alleys. These alleys date back to the Qing Dynasty but have been renovated and now feature many shops and restaurants.
At Bifengxia, I had the pleasure of observing Wen Yu. Wen Yu is a very beautiful panda. Her ears are very much like Mickey Mouse ears, sticking out a bit more than the ears of other pandas I have observed.
In terms of personality and behavior, she is very calm and gentle. She likes to walk often and without hurry, taking her time to look out the windows and doors of her enclosure. She is a very relaxed but selective eater.
She loves panda bread and bamboo shoots (as do many of the other pandas) but she is particularly selective of her bamboo. The keepers bring in different bamboo and she freely chooses what she wants to eat.
And since I know you guys mostly read the blog for the baby panda pictures . . . here is a bonus shot of Su Shan`s cub when it was a little over 2 weeks old.

Hey, Sofany–
Thanks for the update of your adventures. Since you guys are in Sichuan, I would think you might be able to find something hot to jazz up those Cheetos–that area is known for its spicy foods.
And I love pictures and stories about the adult panda personalities–so please keep those coming too!
Thanks–
Frances
