大家好(Dàjiā hǎo) Hello everyone!
My name is Michelle Vohs and I’m very excited to begin my once in a lifetime experience with PDXWildlife in Ya’an, China as a panda intern!  I will graduate from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities with a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife with an emphasis in Conservation Biology this May.  I have minors in Entomology, Environmental Science, Policy and Management, & Sustainable Studies. I am passionate about protecting the environment, all critters big and small, so this internship experience will mean the world to me.  I’ve taken many field classes with bears, wolves, birds, and other small mammals for conservation and research, so it’ll be great to apply these skills.

This is a picture of my family and I celebrating Chinese New Year with my student group, the Chinese American Student Association.  I was adopted from China when I was 11 months old, so I have always wanted to go back to visit my home country.  This will be my first time back since I was adopted and I can’t wait to absorb all the culture and beauty.  I do not speak Mandarin fluently, so I’m hoping to improve my Mandarin while abroad.
