Hi everyone, Hailey here-

We’ve just returned from a busy, short trip to Emei Mountain (峨眉山)/Leshan Buddha, and we were able to see so many amazing things.  We went to the summit of Emei mountain and were able to see the Emei Mountain Gold Roof, it was very foggy but we were able to capture a few good pictures. It’s amazing to see something so large and beautiful, I’ve never seen anything like it. Every time Bryan or I stopped to take a picture, or to simply look around, we were swarmed by people wanting pictures with the “tall laowais”, we felt like we were being followed by the paparazzi ; the people of China are phenomenal.Picture3

We were also able to visit the giant Buddha in Leshan, which was also amazingly breathtaking. We planned to take a two hour bus ride from mount Emei to Leshan, which turned into a nine and a half hour bus ride due to the landslides in the area; it’s in this moment when you realize how grateful you are, that you’re with three amazing friends and you’re all able to laugh through the entire situation. Every time we seem to get into a precarious situation, we all just laugh and enjoy spending time with each other whether we’re stuck on a bus, or sitting on a broken couch in an alley way.Picture2

We are now back in panda land (aka Bifengxia), and it’s so good to be back; we missed the pandas, and the people of Ya’an. Preparations are being made for more cubs here at the base, and the pandas are being fed more than ever. It rained last night, so the temperature is cooler than normal, and the pandas are greatly enjoying it.
