PDXWildlife BOARD MEMBER: DEVELOPMENT

SUMMARY

PDXWildlife is seeking a board member with non-profit experience who will be responsible for fundraising and grantwriting for PDXWildlife. PDXWildlife was founded in 2011 and is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit working to conserve species and habitats by producing innovative, high-quality research and educating communities about their natural resources. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about organizing to create solutions to wildlife conservation in Oregon and internationally. Because we are in a capacity-building and development phase, we are looking for an individual committed to developing a sustainable non-profit and is passionate about our mission and work.

Stipend: Unpaid.

Hours: Expected to work 5-10 hours per week. Monday-Thursday preferred but flexible.

Location: Portland, OR

Due date: May 8th , 2015

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The majority of the position will require overseeing individual, foundation, corporate and gift planning efforts that provide support for PDXWildlife’s conservation initiatives around the world. Responsibilities will include:

• Develop and execute the PDXWildlife’s annual and long-term fundraising plan

• Secure financial support from individuals and businesses

• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors

• Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors

• Oversee the organization and implementation of fundraising events

• Write and apply for new capacity-building grants and oversee reports of existing grants

• Manage the implementation of new database and oversee data entry and gift processing

• Track and report on all individual and business fundraising

• Represent PDXWildlife at community events and public speaking engagements

• Work closely with marketing board member and contribute to PDXWildlife’s marketing and outreach efforts

• Provide leadership to the PDXWildlife Board’s fundraising and outreach effort

• Create and oversee fundraising and development budget

QUALIFICATIONS

• Willing and able to serve a minimum of a one-year term

• Bachelor’s degree or higher

• 1+ years of experience in nonprofit development

• Ability to manage a successful fundraising program

• Success in building a sustained base of individual donors

• Experience with planned giving and major gifts campaigns

• Outstanding relationship building skills and ability to connect with people

• Experience with donor database systems • Strong written and oral communication skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
