PDXSeafood Restaurant Outreach Internship

PDXWildlife is looking for an intern to help spread our conservation and research message for PDXSeafood.   We are looking for a motivated intern that can commit to at least 3 months work to help us continue to develop and promote PDXSeafood, with an emphasis on maintaining and growing restaurant partnerships.

Advanced environmental policy student will work closely with the PDXSeafood Team and assist the team with aspects of our restaurant membership program. The goal of this program is to increase awareness of sustainable seafood through our partners, who are marking their menus with sustainable seafood options. Our intern will visit potential restaurant partners to disseminate informational packets, answer questions, and set up meetings.

Internship responsibilities may include visiting and contacting potential partners; website administration (including adding/editing pages, uploading new content and structuring information across the new PDXSeafood website); moderating discussions/forums;  planning activities to generate online activity; developing new promotional material and increasing outreach; and developing ad campaigns.

A successful candidate with have strong research, writing, and communication skills; experience using literature databases; knowledge of social networking; WordPress, HTML and GoogleAdWords experience; and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Background in conservation biology, particularly sustainable seafood and fisheries biology, preferred. This internship is an excellent opportunity to interact with scientists in PDXWildlife and around the world; learn about PDXWildlife and its projects; get exposure to a wide range of conservation science topics; and play a key role in building a new science community.

Stipend: Unpaid.

Hours: Expected to work 10-15 hours per week. Monday-Friday preferred.
